Image selection done ...

Finally posting "today's post" today! :-)

Today we had a student talk about Externally Dispersed Interferometers (EDI). The students are supposed to pick a topic and speak about it.

People put a Michaelson interferometer before the spectrograph and can have a great resolution in doppler variation of lines. This way measuring radial velocities get really better. Nice test made with 51 Pegasus, the historical first planet from Mayor and Queloz (1995). A precision of 11.5 m/s with a test instrument while the original measurements from ELODIE had 30 m/s.

When I worked with CORAVEL data in my master thesis we had 300 m/s hehehehehe I love technology!

Also finished the selection of the images that can be used as flats at the LAICA run. Tomorrow I'll see if they really work ...
