Late post on ACS stuff :-)

Yesterday was an ACS and applications day. Also german class.

I'm checking shape parameters distortion on ACS images. How distorted the objects get when combining and applying the geometrical correction. There should be something published about it!

Also went to my German class, which was about the subjunctive tense ... german can be complicated ... actually the question is if german can EVER be simple ... hehehehehehe

Some ACS and German class

Today I looked at the modeling of a ACS field. I wanted to check if some of the effects seen in the snapshots modeling were due to an "excess" of resolution. At least that doesn't seemed to be the case ... still searching for it.

Also first german class of the intermediate level. It was good!

Recovering and learning

The day today had a big recovery part ... yeah! Recovery! I took part on a long bike race yesterday (sunday) and my body was still not responding after a couple of sleeping hours, so I took a couple more and the morning to rest.

Afternoon. Group meeting. Learning some issues about ACS images with one of our students for a project I'm getting involved. And preparing and running some tests on the OV_WAV.

Short, but not so bad!

Cityhall and Snapshots

The morning was spent on the cityhall for some extention on my visa, but ... as always ... things are a bit more complicated. That time, the person we spoke to, previously, was not there! Is on vacation for 3 weeks ... so ... whatever!

The afternoon spent on the snapshots analysis. There's still some things to be done in that and a couple of tests. Not easy at all to analyse simulation snapshots with tools developed for images ... but I gotta make it work!

Small report and Snapshots

Today some writing to a considerably large amount of people, a good talking with the boss, again.

A small report on 2005 to the VW fundation, our groups funding agency.

And more snapshot analysis. The good part is that, if you're organized with that, you do the other things while the modeling is running. That's what I always try to do!

German exam and snapshots

The summer semester has started and the day was partially used for the level exam of the German course. After the privat course we made on the "semester vacation", the teacheer suggested that I sould try the intermediate level and not the basic one. Let's see what the exam tells me, I still think my german is way too poor. I may be being a bit too critical ...

The other part of the day was used to keep the analysis of the snapshots and on a meeting with Bodo about good things on work and perspectives! Let's see that also!

Back on track!

Back on track!

Today was a "hi, how was your trip?" day. Since at least three of our coleagues came back from somewhere.

Also the university semester started today, so meeting about the institute's seminar and things like that.

About work. I checked the test on the snapshots and didn't like the results either. The first test was with the normal resolution, not very good the results. Than I tried smoothing, to avoind undersampling, and it was also bad. So I spent the day selecting which objects should be reconstructed and which shouldn't. Until now it's working fine. Let's see tomorrow, when the things will get complicated.

Happy Easter!

So! A "week post" :-))

Last week I took a couple of days out to visit Berlin, since a couple of friends were going there anyway. The city is impressive! Gotta come back there some day!

Came back, but took it a bit light, was needing some rest for the mind. Also did some biking as preparation for next week's race, which will be better described at the bike's blog hehehehehe

Basically took care of some simulation issues. Looking at the modelling of snapshots and the tests on the wavelet package for the paper. Tomorrow everything comes back to "normality"!

Than easter, where I could enjoy the company of good friends :-)

Back!

So, came back from La Palma. Trip was fine and I hope the data is good!

Those last two days was basically sending some proposals and applications around. Monday there will be more paper work, but I hope I can do some science also!

A bit about coffee :-) At the Canary Islands they drink coffee in a nice way. Something called "Barraquito". Is an espresso, condensed milk (for real, not cream, condensed milk, the one used for chocolate cover in cakes - can that be better?? hehehehe), normal milk (like on a Latte Machiatto) and sometimes a bit of cinnamon and Licor 43 ... that's very good!
