End of week! Still processing

Still processing the data! Last group will modelled on monday, and until wednesday I'll probably have the results for the three of them. That's good.

Yesteday paper work ... after that I was not well and took the day off, think I'm getting sick.

Just for the record

Today was the "summer party" of the physics faculty, so the whole day with the people. Just a meeting with Bodo to arrange some details of the next steps.

I actually forgot about that party hehehehe what a surprise! :-) There was the faculty Volley Ball Championship, we won the first round, but got kicked out at the second one ... it's OK.

And it keeps going! :-)

Today more selection and more data to the "oven" tomorrow more ... the process is slow, but up to now the results are good!!

Now Brazil X Ghana! I'm not a soccer fan, but but but, World Cup is World Cup, specially "in locus" :-)

It keeps going

The same routine ... selecting and reconstructing ... tomorrow a new group to the "oven"

Today "Italy X Australia" :-) Tomorrow "Brazil X Ghana"!! :-) The good and the bad of living here those times! hehehe

More selection

Checking the fine tunning, which worked well and selecting objects to partial reconstruction. Everything under control, but it's a slow process.

Yesterday Brazil played better, it's getting better ... the math is also getting more complicated.

We scored 4 goals ... 1 - 2 - 4 that would mean 8 against Ghana??? 2^{n-1} where n is the number of the match?

Or we had a goal diference of 3, so we get back to the old math :-) 1 - 2 - 3 ...

:-)))

Paper work dominated ...

A paper work dominated day! Arranging the papers for the new contract (a good thing). Also fine tunning the modelling, as said before and the day is shorter because of the German class ... after that, Brazil X Japan! YEEEEEEEEEEEHHHH

:-))

Late, again :-)

From Wednesday!

Normal day with no atractive issues :-)

The modelling of the diffuse component requires some tunning of the parameters, and that's where I am now with those like images. Takes a while but it's worth at the end.

In a while more on the tunning :-)

A bit more

A bit more of modelling, just hard work with not too much science. But soon there will be good results! :-)

Part of the time was spent seeing Germany playing against Ecuador (gotta be "social" heuheuehue) and at Bodo's lecture.

Today and last friday ...

So, with the end of the simulation analysis I came back to the analysis of the real data. Now the LAICA data I was reducing for a while (full of technical issues).

One group was modeled and now the proper objects are being selected. The second group is being modeled. Than we get into the third one.

Today Bodo gave us a test class to the class he has to give to his "habilitation", something very important here in Germany ...

Basically that, not really atractive hehehe mean while the world cup keeps going and we played a little better than the first game and scored 2x0 against Australia ... maybe it will be 3x0 against Japan!?!?!?!?! Extrapolating, it would take us to a final with 7x0 hehehehehehehe the 1000 dangers of extrapolating things from 2 points :-))))))

A slow day!

Celebration yesterday was ... a bit more ... let's say ... hmmmmmmmm ... hehehehehehe it was heavier than I expected, but it was "proper".

Today a slow day. Had a talk in the morning from one of the department students on a topic I really like, Extragalactic Globular Clusters! Started the analysis of new group's diffuse light. It will go on for a little while.

At the end of the day, German class! More needed than ever! hehehehehehe

Good news ... finally!

Today, after our bad match against Croatia, the day stared with a bike flat tire :-)

At work I carried on the error analysis and I'm quite happy with the final error bars to the simulation S/N ranges!!

The good news are! Finally got the confirmation of the renewal of my contract here!!! GREAT! A diferent project, what is also good for a change. An interesting one! I'll be talking more about it in the next days!

That means I also have to do as much as possible with the compact groups NOW!!!!!

Error analysis!

The typical errors for ranges of S/N in the simulation are defined. Good!! Now just gotta write this section and make presure to the other authors to finish their parts!!

Today will be a short day. Gotta check some stuff in town, German class and Brazil is playing in the world cup later!

Over! :-)

The modelling is over! Finally! Now, I'll just got the points, plot and estimate the tipical error for each range of S/N. Uff!!!

Probably gonna do that tonight yet!! :-)))

This week, besides the world cup, is like this "The Cure" song "Waiting for something to happen" hehehehehe

Week summary???!!!???

Yep, bad, shame on me, a week summary since last friday ...

Monday was a holiday, but the weekend was kind of busy.

Working on the analysis of the simulated images. A problem with this kind of test is that any modification to be tested takes a while since we need to do the whole reconstruction process.

Still not there, but I'll close that before monday!

Tuesday I also started to see the observations I did on november and march with Miguel. He'll take care of a part, I'll take care of another part of the data reduction, it should be faster like this.

Yesterday we had a nice talk by Karl Gebhardt about black hole in the center of stellar systems. Studies made using Gemini IFU, really cool! I liked to see that the "possible" black hole in the center of OmegaCen and G1 (in M31) falls perfectly in the M_BH x Sigma relation. As he said, we don't care about the nature of those objects, if they are real Globular Clusters, of stripped dE,N nuclei.

On monday I'll be "daily" back! :-)))

Very bad day!!

A day that not even Daniel Powter's song "Bad Day" could make a diference ... DISK PROBLEMS!! Exactly on the disk I was working with. When I left the institute the SYSADM was trying to fix it. Still don't know anything about it ... GRRRRRRRR

In case it's necessary to replace it and things are lost I hope the institute's backup system is working properly.

Hoping for the best tomorrow ...
