Almost done

Not done yet for a series of little problems, mostly refitting objects to improve results taking too long.

Tomorrow some "applicating", then back to fitting.

Modeling ... yet

So! Whole day remodeling the cases that a component got lost and identifying problems on the other clusters. I hope to have it ready by thursday.

Our number cruncher will probably get some TBs of disk, that should do for a while :-)

Recovering

So! Last week was mostly laying on the bed/couch since sitting is not good for this kind of lesion. Now I can already sit, but not for too long (like a whole afternoon), so I decided to stay home at least part of this week to finish recovering.

Last week and today some of the modeling was done, still working on that to finish it as soon as possible, but it requires some level of interaction that requires sitting in front of the computer, so it goes slower than it should. Today was better.

Today also some solving problems in the city.

Last week KG code almost collapsed ESO's large number cruncher, since it requires all the available RAM. When someone else tried to run something ... the machine almost crashed! Now the input was split in two parts, now there's RAM for the others hehehehehe

Broken ...

Friday was quite a rushy day, as foreseen.

We got to Berlin, with some delay (Deutsche Bahn ... tsc tsc tsc), got to the embassy, signed the paper, posted it to Brazil, got something to eat and got the train back, on time to pick up Matheus at the baby sitter. Of course the delay on the way back was even worst and we've got to Göttingen about 1 hour latter than we expected. Anyway, all solve and all safe. Also on the train managed to do the first part of the catalogue organization for out velocity field targets. A bit of work during the weekend and photometry got  ready for those objects. The plan was do the rest on the train to Munich on monday and have it all ready by tuesday. Good enough.

Also during the weekend rehearsing with some friends to play on the birthday part of our friend (also Fernanda's boss and Max Planck director) Walter Stühmer. Great, a nice weekend ...

Monday morning, woke up at 5 to get my train, as usual, shower, sit on the bed to get dressed and couldn't stand up anymore. Lombalgy (also known as back injury) ... no train, no trip, just rest. Rest and some reading, no sitting in front of the computer.

Today much better, after rest and medication ... managed to work a bit. All the objects of the VF sample are modeled, now analysis. I'm not sure I'll be able to do it on wednesday ... my back is way worst than earlier today (still better than yesterday). Let's see how the morning comes.

Also yesterday evening, the disk of our heavy number crusher got full and the KG code stop saving results after 7 days running ... restarted. Now I just hope the responsible for filling it up  doesn't do it again.

AGE IS A PROBLEM :-))))) I need to get back to my sports, with stronger muscles this doesn't happen!!!

Proposed

Finished, sent, goes tomorrow to the post and I go to Berlin to sign some paper in the consulate.

Too bad is a quick trip, I love Berlin. We'll leave Matheus at the Tagesmutter, get the train, sign, come back and get here on time to pick him up around 5:30 PM ... rushy?? NAAAAAA!

Train activity tomorrow. Objects selection in the high-z project.

Proposing

Whole day on the proposal ... it has to be ready tomorrow at the end of the day.

And reporting, actually proposing

Yep! It's not a report, is a new proposal, where you have to make clear that you did what you were suppose to ... :-)

I'm on that, and will be on that for the whole week. Tried to put a addstar simulation forward, but it requires attention, so it will be done when the proposal is finished.

The KG code, which I expected it would take 4 days to run, did it in 1 day but gave 1/3 of the expected result, no time to check. Put it to run in another configuration, but it crashed, now it's back again. I'll check it in a while.

Reporting

So! ESO application sent during the weekend. There was some KG coding, which seems to be finished and the code is running for one day already. If my expectations are right, it will run for about 4 days.

Also some DFG report preparation and today the day was solving some problems on the city center and writing the report ... this whole week is going to be like that. Also I'll confirm some results on IGL, GCSs and UCDs and prepare some figures that will go there also ...

Still applicating :-)

Still writing ... after some suggestions I rearranged the text, now it read better! Waiting for new input :-)

Also some pre-preparation for the DFG report to renew my contract and a lot of discussion about it.

Also a bit of KG coding! But just a bit!

Applicating :-)

The new verb that means writing and preparing applications ... APPLICATING! Then, when you're done applicating ... you apply :-)

Yesterday was writing on the train and writing at ESO. Also solving some personal paperwork problems ... today I'll review the text and collect some comments.

The main problem is that you writing a nice text and then you have to make it fit in the 2 pages limit ... at the end it looks like a telegram!!!!

Also some KG thinking.

Also some application work and KG work.

Tomorrow, to Garching.
